“How much will my website cost?” is one of the first questions every client asks — and the honest answer is “it depends”. But that doesn’t help you plan a budget. So here are realistic ranges, and the factors that move a project up or down.
These are typical ranges for professionally designed and built websites from an experienced studio in India:
Several factors have the biggest impact on price:
Your website has running costs beyond the initial build. Budget for a domain (₹800–₹1,500 a year), hosting (₹5,000–₹25,000 a year depending on traffic), an SSL certificate (often included), premium plugins or apps, and maintenance — security updates, backups and small changes — typically ₹2,000 to ₹10,000 a month on a care plan.
A ₹10,000 website might look like a bargain, but it often comes with hidden costs: slow loading, poor mobile experience, no SEO foundations, security vulnerabilities and no support. Many of our clients come to us after rebuilding a cheap site twice. Investing properly once is usually cheaper over three years.
Agencies can give much more accurate pricing when you share: your goals, a list of pages, features you need, examples of sites you like, whether content is ready, your timeline and your approximate budget. Sharing a budget range isn’t a disadvantage — it helps us recommend the best solution within it.
At TKV, every website is quoted as a fixed price with a clear scope and timeline, agreed before work starts. If requirements change during the project, we discuss the impact before anything is billed — no surprises.
Quotes for the same brief can vary widely, so compare what’s included rather than just the final number. Check how many design concepts and revision rounds are included, who writes and uploads content, whether SEO setup, speed optimisation and analytics are part of the scope, what training you’ll receive, and what support is offered after launch.
Also ask to see live websites the agency has built and speak to a past client if possible. A slightly higher quote with clear scope, timelines and support often saves money compared with a cheaper quote that leaves important work out.
If your budget is tight, prioritise. Launch with the pages that drive enquiries — home, services, work, about and contact — and add a blog or extra features in a second phase. Prepare your content early: clear copy and good photos reduce design time and delays.
Choose a proven platform such as WordPress or Shopify rather than fully custom code unless you truly need it, and use a small number of reusable page layouts. Investing in strong foundations — speed, SEO structure and an easy content system — gives you a site that grows with your business instead of one that needs replacing within two years.
Finally, think of your website as an investment rather than an expense. A well-built site that brings in even two or three extra customers a month often pays for itself within the first year. When comparing options, estimate the value of a single new client to your business, and use that number to judge which quote offers the best long-term return rather than simply choosing the lowest price on the table. If you are unsure where to begin, a short discovery call can clarify priorities and give you a realistic budget range before you commit to anything.
